International Women’s day seems like a perfect day to re start this blog which I started and stopped in 2013.
Today is a day with a serious message. It’s unacceptable that women suffer terrible inequality and violence and fear in so many countries in so many ways.
But change is happening, and today marches worldwide and here in Orgiva are part of that change.
Spanish TV announced there would be recorded programs today as their female employees are on strike.
I would probably have had Dream Ask Believe and Receive tattooed somewhere on my body by now, if that was my thing, because it’s been my my mission statement for the last 22 years.
But no…no tattoos, just affirmations, new dreams , and a passion to see all of life’s challenges ‘with my kindest eyes,’ and as opportunities to learn more about giving and receiving love.
In this new blog I want to fearlessly share what touches and inspires me daily and deeply.
Some of it will be new prose poems, some of it will be quotes that take my breath away. There will be pics and paintings too.
Why do I want to do this?
Because sharing positive thoughts and images and expecting the best rather than the worst life has to offer seems like a good idea..
Naive ??
Maybe.
My JOB ( Joy Of Being) is pretty miraculous most of most days.
When playing scrabble recently with my super intelligent 11 year old granddaughter, she said quietly - after I paused a little too long...
'Do you need a little help Granny Meg? '
I thought I really didn’t, but she preceded to place 3 letters onto an existing word - which gave me a triple score.
Something touched my heart very deeply in this little happening.
Then she played her clarinet for me, whilst her younger sister practiced how to become a famous rock star.
Stage 4 colon cancer. Chemo. 2 New hips.
Each of these challenges since 2013 have been coloured by magical moments .
Joy was never far away.
Love poured in from all around the world.
A whole village in the Peruvian Andes prayed for my full recover every day, till and beyond I got the all clear.
My heart beats with an ever increasing sense of awe and gratitude to be living at this moment in history, with the friends that I have, and the people who inspire me.
‘I raise up my voice - not so I can shout but so that those without a voice can be heard. We cannot succeed when half of us are held back."
- Malala Yousafzai, Pakistani activist and youngest Nobel Prize laureate.
"Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier."
- Mother Teresa, Nobel Peace Prize laureate.
And although few of us can do what wonderful Malala is doing, all of can aim to do what Mother Teresa did.
